The Isle of Mull is the second largest Island in the Inner Hebrides and lies off the west coast of Scotland. Mull has over 300 miles of coastline, numerous ancient monuments and Castles, dozens of sandy beaches and encompasses historically significant outlying islands, providing endless days of exploration and discovery. Arguably Mull and Iona’s greatest draw is the diverse array of wildlife, in particular the Golden Eagle, White Tailed Sea Eagle, Red Deer, Otters and marine mammals.

North Mull
Tobermory, ‘Mull’s Capital’, with its bright and colourful houses it has to be one of the prettiest harbours in Scotland. In the north and east of Mull you will find outstanding, unspoiled sea and landscape views towards Skye and the Outer Hebrides. A visit to Calgary Bay is undoubtedly on every beach-lovers list not to mention searching for hidden rocky coves, walking through the rich carpets of Machair and the picturesque village of Dervaig.

Central Mull
Characterised by Loch na Keal and Loch Ba, the imposing Ben More mountain range to the south and the rugged Gribun Cliffs to the west, central Mull is one of the most breathtaking and wildlife rich areas to explore during your stay. Ben More, Mull’s only Munro towering at 966m, is a very popular walk with it’s spectacular panoramic views over the Inner and Outer Hebrides and Mainland Argyll.

From the iconic Duart Castle, ancestral home of the Clan MacLean, the ancient granite stone circle in Lochbuie and the Isle of Iona, known as the ‘cradle of Christianity’, this part of Mull has a fascinating history waiting to be discovered. The South of Mull offers excellent walking opportunities, secluded white sandy beaches and spectacular views over Mull and the Inner Hebrides.

Local Islands
To really experience Mull you need to get out on the water. Mull’s outlying Islands are vitally important wildlife havens and are very popular visitor destinations. From Staffa, with it’s basalt pillars and infamous Fingal’s Cave, Lunga and the Treshnish Isles hosting Puffins, Guilliemots, Razorbills and Kittiwakes throughout the breeding season to Ulva and it’s standing stones and rapid clearances in the 1840’s, there is plenty to explore and discover. Walking
There are walking routes for all ages and abilities found throughout Mull and it’s surrounding Islands. Take a hike up Ben More or Dùn da Ghaoithe, walk into hidden glens, or along forestry tracks and secluded beaches. Discover the fascinating Carsaig Arches or Fossil Tree on Burg, a tough walk will reward you with breathtaking scenery, panoramic views and heartfelt admiration for this beautiful Island.
